RE: 'The Rough Close Murder' and 'The Day the Sun Disappeared'
Your manuscripts were brought to our attention at the latest Editorial Board meeting when we discussed the potential of their publication. Having read all the reports and taken note of the Editors’ opinions we can confidently state that your works were found to be a most entertaining and adventurous reads, very
well-written, that will undoubtedly captivate a wide audience. While both submissions have merit, 'The Rough Close Murder' was of particular interest to the Board, as an evocative, confronting and ultimately thrilling novel in which a reader becomes confidant, friend, or protector of the protagonist Sue, holding her close to their hearts. The Board was impressed by the compelling, original storyline which lends itself well to Gothic literature, rooted in true crime, with a modern twist as the story centres around Sue and Dave and the new house they have purchased in Rough Close. Little do the new owners know their lives are about to alter forever as the house’s chilling history is revealed. Throughout the story there are many thrilling and gothic twists and turns as the spirit of the deceased William Daniel slowly takes over Dave’s body, which adds to the tension and mystery within the text. Additionally, the inclusion of the isolated farmhouse, the strange music the family hears and the eerie, unexplained movement of the furniture are all great elements of the Gothic and work wonderfully within the narrative.
Throughout, Dave’s mental health is questioned as Sue believes something is inherently wrong with her husband to cause such a change in personality but when further research reveals the tragic demise of the Daniel family, Sue is in over her head and contacts an expert.
Your authorial voice is strong and confident as your work is well-conceived and developed, framed by a cast of characters that builds and sustain this spooky story, the contemporary work delivers a lasting impression and insight into Gothic literature.
The Board was keen to comment on the dynamic writing style and believes 'The Rough Close Murder' has the potential to excel within its genre.

This novel based on a true story has been expertly researched by the author who not only is a historian but also has a comprehensive understanding of paranormal activity. It is one of those books that once you start reading you don’t want to put down.
